CLOSE ONES

photos from the |CLOSE ONES| edition | 01 | 2020
Project | CLOSE ONES | is a series of light exhibitions on buildings, created from texts and photos from domestic archives. When a small, private photo from an album or phone is enlarged and displayed on the facade of a building, the story of an individual gains a new dimension and becomes part of a larger narrative about the community that co-creates the city space.
| CLOSE ONES | is a participatory project. This means that the formula for presenting history is developed together with a group of people, starting from private texts, photos taken in their homes and conversations. The project culminates in a light exhibition projection in the city space.
The form of the | CLOSE ONES | project refers to family photo presentations, transforming them into a conscious narrative, a defined form, and build a field for interaction. In this way, it reclaims public space dominated by advertisements and political messages for its residents.
The project prototype was developed as part of the "Augmented Reality" scholarship at the Pilecki Institute in Berlin.
Collaboration: Joanna Zięba, Wiktoria Michałkiewicz, Paulina Haratyk, Maciej Sobieszczański.
